Faculty of Letters English Reading Group

Let us discuss the greatest Japanese philologist together!

The Faculty of Letters English Reading Group (FLERG)

holds regular discussions on Japanese thoughts and culture.

This reading group is mainly for the international students who want to engage in a lively discussion with Japanese students,

and for the Japanese students who want to improve their English communication skills.

But everyone is welcome! Please come and see us just to find new friends!

During Autumn 2014, we will read and discuss Motoori Norinaga’s Tamakatsuma in English translation.

Norinaga (1730-1801) established the foundations for the interpretation of Kojiki, an oldest account of Japanese myth, in the edo period.

Tamakatsuma is a collection of records of his personal thoughts, including notes for his major work, a Commentary of Kojiki.

Where: Seminar Room 4 (第4演習室) on the 2nd floor of Faculty of Letters Main Bldg (文学部新館).

Times: The 1st and 3rd Tuesdays, 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM.

The first session will be held on the 21th of Oct.
